I tell you the difference between the Box-version and the OEM-version and when it is better to overpay for the processor.
Today I would like to talk about the “heart” of any personal computer, namely the processor. In my case it is the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 BOX version.
Some general information
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor is sold in two versions (like any other AMD processor):
BOX – version (my variant) – it comes with the processor, cooling fan with thermal paste already applied and all this is nicely and qualitatively packed in a box. Plus for this variant of the processor, the manufacturer gives three years of their own warranty.
OEM version. In this version you buy only one processor, as it will be completed, know only the representatives of the store where you will buy the goods. Guarantee for this version is provided by the MAGAZINE, not by the manufacturer and is only one year!
The cost. As you have probably guessed the two versions cost differently, the oem-version is much cheaper, the difference in price varies, sometimes up to two thousand.

When buying the box-version, you expect the manufacturer to be concerned about the safety of the contents, and that’s how it turned out.
There are protective brand stickers – a guarantee of integrity of purchased goods.
The packaging is impressive, beautiful, there is even a window through which you can observe the processor itself.
Opening the box, we see that everything is packed with care, not only the processor, but also the cooling fan is protected from damage by plastic covers.
The cooling fan comes proprietary from AMD-as compared to the tower fan-looks rather fragile, but looking ahead, I say that it is quite enough to cool the processor.
It is worth noting here, the presence of already applied thermal paste, which is completely fresh. Without any abnormality. It is applied thinly, evenly over the whole surface!
It also comes with a small instruction book.
Inside the box is a plastic container, inside which is hidden the processor and the manufacturer’s brand sticker.
The most important thing in the processor are the legs, they must be perfect, flat, otherwise the processor simply will not work.
In my case, they are exactly that – perfect. The macro shot confirms this.
The process of installing the CPU into the motherboard (I have a Gigabyte B450M DS3H) – is not difficult at all. The main thing is to do it carefully and watch a couple of tutorials before).
On top of the processor, carefully also fasten the fan and do not forget to connect it to the motherboard!
Bottom line
The best part of the review is of course the user experience, in my case it’s a delight. I was worried that the native fan would not be enough to cool the processor, but my fears were groundless. Maybe not the least of these was the additional cooling vane in the PC itself, but the fact is that at the moment I’m happy with the cooling of the processor.
As for the performance of the processor, it makes a stable 150-200 fps Fortnite on max settings. Perfectly it also cope with online games broadcasts.
Do I recommend this processor for purchase, definitely yes!

The boxy cooler is enough on condition that there is dop cooler in the case, at first there is only one behind, later I got fed up with this heater and plus summer was coming, put 4 more, 2 on the front and on the top, the heater is not, I’m happy, so about the temperature I can not write nigativ because dop cooler in the case, without it and really hot stone, the temperature measured, but exhaust when I play hardly warm goes, so I’m sure that the temperature is within normal limits is kept.
A good option for a budget PC
In games it shows itself just fine. It is best to take the OEM version, because the BOX version is pointless, you have to buy another cooler anyway. For those who don’t have too big budget this processor is definitely worth to take.
I bought it mostly for gaming since I don’t do any rendering. My budget was 60000 and I had a choice between intel core i3 9100f and ryzen 5 2600.
- 4 and 4 threads did not suit me at all because ryzen 5 2600 – 6 cores, 12 threads.
- the price is not much different, the difference is only 30$
- intel has only 6 MB of L3 cache, while ryzen has 16 MB
- blocked multiplier (intel has unfortunately a blocked multiplier, while ryzen does not).
I used to be an intel supporter myself, but as soon as I tried ryzen I changed my mind.
The best processor in its price range
When I was a kid I always had a dream to have a powerful computer, but I didn’t have the money for it. When I began to make a steady income I began to look closely and figure out what is and how to deal with these machines. Initially I wanted to buy Intel processor, about AMD company I had never heard of before. But nevertheless my friend changed my mind and I decided to buy this beautiful processor for relatively small money. Now I’m completely satisfied with my computer, with fps everything is great, videos rendering is going pretty fast, programs don’t load it up too much. I can easily stream, chat in discord with friends, have a browser with music on, and of course play the game, and all at once! Anyone interested, here’s the build, which I have now (I will not describe in detail, since I do not remember the exact names of components):
- b450 motherboard
- ryzen 5 2600 processor
- gtx 1060 graphics card
- 16 gigabytes of RAM
240 gigabytes ssd for the operating system and important programs and a 2 terabyte hard drive for junk and games My main task (games for me) it works fine. The picture is stable, fps in cs:go for example is kept at about 200, World of Tanks on ultra settings is stable 120 fps.
Booting the OS about 10-15 seconds. The box cooler works fine and looks pretty good. I think that’s all you need to know if you are going to buy this processor. I recommend it for those who want maximum performance for a small price.
