Braun TexStyle 9 is a good iron: powerful and high quality. Now the ironing process is nice and fast♥
Let me start by saying that I HATE ironing all kinds of clothes and linens, and when the laundry dries out, it can wait a long time, because ironing things is a real pain for me.
When my old Tefal iron began to buckle: it didn’t iron well, and besides, the iron started “spitting” rusty water and ruining things, I realized that I needed to buy a good new iron.
The process of choosing an iron was long, since it turns out that to choose a good iron is not so easy, I googled long enough, and I came across quite an interesting iron model: Braun TexStyle 9 SI 9188, which combines the functions of a steam iron.
This iron turned out to be of high quality and has pretty good technical specifications.
To begin with, the power of the Brown TexStyle 9 iron is 2800 watts.
The soleplate has Saphir 3D BackGlide coating, which is scratch-resistant and does not cause shiny fabric.
The steam stroke of the iron is powerful and is 230 g/min, with a constant steam supply of 50 g/min.
The volume of the water tank is 350 ml
The iron cord is of high quality, flexible and quite long – 2.6 meters.
Among other functions, this iron model has a built-in auto shut-off function, which activates after half a minute when the iron is in the horizontal position, as well as when the iron is tipped over on its side, and after 8 minutes if the iron is in the vertical position without movement.
The iron comes with instructions, a warranty card and a measuring cup for pouring water into a special compartment.
For me, this iron was unique in that it has iCare Tec technology, which adjusts the temperature, adjusting to the type and thickness of the fabric.

The most hated clothes to iron, for me, for many years now, are shirts.
But with the new iron, ironing shirts is much easier, and faster.
The iron’s power and steam function helps quickly smooth out crumpled fabrics, even when they’re overdried.
Steam application functions, of varying intensity help to smooth out overdried and strongly crumpled laundry rather quickly.
The handle of the Brown iron is convenient, and there is a steam button under the handle, which is easy to press when necessary.

Very easy to use, does a great job
Bought it online in late December and it arrived last weekend. It had very good reviews overall and I needed a new iron. It is in good shape and glides well as advertised, however all new irons do. The only great thing about this model is the long cord, which honestly should be the standard for all irons since they tend to be too short. While it’s nice that you don’t have to adjust the heat control for different fabrics, this model doesn’t produce enough steam to smooth out creases on cotton and linen, and the steam blow for those fabrics only works well when the tank is full, so if Boost is used often (and it’s necessary for shirts, linens, etc.) you need to constantly fill the tank, despite its fairly large size. Overall, it’s a pretty good iron that works well on lighter fabrics.
Iron that I could not find a replacement (((
I was introduced to the Braun TexStyle 9 iron in 2020, after a broken iron that had been in use.
I came to the conclusion that I was looking for an iron with a powerful steam stroke and with the ability to continuously feed steam. Since no matter how powerful and good the iron is, if it does not steam or “spit” water (and also leaves behind traces), the use of it is useless.
I chose the Braun TexStyle 9 SI9188EBK, which cost $150 at the time of purchase at Media Markt in my town.
The iron steams well. Yes, its dry ironing is weak, due to the peculiarities of the model, but the manufacturer warns about this.
Of the advantages:
- Steam blow 230g/min, constant steam 50g/min (of the 6 possible adjustments for constant steam, I always used the 3rd, this is more than enough)
- Power 2800, heated up fast enough
- Automatic temperature controller. Since I sew, it was very convenient for me, no fear to burn the material (especially if it is new to me in the work)
- The automatic shutoff. And if the iron was left in the horizontal position, it would turn off after a couple of minutes. Again, when I’m sewing, I don’t have to worry about it overheating between sewing the product
- long cord
- Limescale protection system, self-cleaning function. When using distilled water the need for cleaning practically disappeared, did once a month for prevention
- The coating is a real pleasure. Convenient bent soleplate, no need to lift the iron, when moving back the fabric is not bent.
Of the minuses:
- The steam blow button is a pain of this model (IMHO)
My first iron, it broke after a few months of use.
I had no trouble at the store to change it.
Although the consultants tried to dissuade me, I took the same model.
After two years of use I have never regretted it.
Why am I talking about my iron in the past tense?
Unfortunately, after two years this iron suffered the same fate, the steam button broke. I could use it, but it seemed to me that the water consumption increased, and the steam stroke itself was very lacking.
Since the warranty card was successfully taken from me at the cash desk in the new box with the iron, and I could not find the exchange list, I had to go to the service.
There it turned out that they had already been addressed with the same problem with the same model, and it seemed that the problems shouldn’t arise.
But despite the fact that the service had recommended itself previously on the best side, no miracle happened in this situation.
First of all, the iron’s fasteners were rather tight, and the back wall was broken, not removed (or sawed) carefully; the iron looked sad after the repair.
Secondly, the guys decided to decalcify the iron, because it was very dirty (even though I had cleaned it for a couple of weeks and there were no “scraps” from it, the maximum was water staining, and nobody asked them to do that) and they simply ruined the coating, which they tried to wipe off in my presence with solvent, but to no avail.
I left the iron in the hope that the soleplate would be restored to its original form, and came to get it the next day.
The soleplate was cleaned and, as it seemed to me, without damaging it (it was impossible to check it), but the steam button still wouldn’t work.
As a result, we were compensated for the cost of the iron at the moment and I went to get a new one.
The cost of this model today is 2, or even 2.5 times higher.
Would I take this model again? (Since I have not found any iron similar in benefits), but only in a store that would change it for me if it broke down.
I have not found this model in any store in our city, and neighboring stores, they simply do not exist now, only showcased samples (in very poor condition).
To order on the Internet sites (because of the problem with this iron), I have not decided, and the country of the manufacturer is now only China, mine was Hungary.
Unfortunately, I can’t attach photos of the iron in action and the iron itself, but I will say one thing, I was very happy with it in action!
I had to order a steam generator, but from a different company. I decided against Braun because of the impossibility of finding replacement filters for their steam generators.
